PanteraHi Gang,

I recently bought a MOPAR muscle car book which has a short section on the Prowler. In this book they refer to and quote from a book called "Plymouth Prowler" put out by DC. Does anyone have one of these books? I have not found any info on it. It is not the "anatomy" 40 page booklet, as the quoted passages are not in that.

Thanks,
Pantera

CJCan you tell us which Mopar Muscle Book had this reference and I will see if I can find out. In all the time we've been connected with Prowler, I've never heard of a book done on it other than the Anatomy of a Prowler booklet.
BeWareIs the book you are talking about titled Chrysler, Dodge & Plymouth Muscle by Anthony Young.

Quote on page 187 "People packing and side-impact requirments necessitated widening the body about three inches" said engineer Don Bradley in Plymouth Prowler
The quote then continues for a whole paragraph.

This quote is from the 40 page Anatomy Book on page 35

PanteraYes, the book I have is "Chrysler, Dodge, & Plymouth Muscle" by Anthony Young. I will post the actual quotes I am talking about later.
PanteraBeWare,

The quote you wrote above is the only one that I can find in "Anatomy" There are three or four other quotes in Young's book that are similiar but not the same as the passages in Anatomy. I don't have either book with me now but one quote is about selecting the wheel size (Young's quote refer to them as Big and Bigger). Another is about sending the engineers to hot rod shows. Another is about putting bummpers on the show car. These are similiar, but not the same as what is in Anatomy. Young also says something like "In a Lavish book put out by Chrysler, "Plymouth Prowler"...." I was just wondering if there was another book that was out there, since the quotes are not accurate and I would not call "Anatomy" lavish. But, since the quote you wrote above is exactly accurate, I would assume Young is indeed refering to "Plymouth Prowler, Anatomy of a New Roadster"

BeWareI believe there was a limited number of the anatomy book with hard covers. But I think the content was the same. I saw one on Ebay once a long time ago.

RPLYes, DCX did produce a small number of hard bound Anatomy books. CJ has one in her collection. The content is exactly the same.
BeWareNeed to see last reply from RPL. And it worked. Weird.

Umm, dear, I am going to have to disagree with you this time. I don't think there were any hardbound Anatomy books. The hardcover books that I have are the original (large, 20-some page) Prowler brochure. The cover of the brochure says,

Prowler

Who Would Build A Tribute To Hot Rods....

This section of the brochure has the time line, and all the technical specifications information on the Prowler It has a fold-out brochure in the middle. Then you flip the brochure over and on the back cover it says:

Why Plymouth is celebrating..........

The next page finishes the sentence..........The Hot Rod. It then has an explanation as to why the Prowler was conceived and built. The remainder of this side of the brochure is all photography of the Prowler.

DC took this brochure and produced a limited number of hardcover copies. I actually have two of them in my collection.
